HSSE & Sustainability

The responsibilities behind every barrel.

Energy trading sits at the centre of how the world powers itself. ROS Trading takes seriously the responsibility this brings — to the people who work in our value chain, to the environments we operate in, and to the communities our trade serves.

Our position

HSSE is a foundational requirement, not an afterthought.

Our Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) commitments, together with our sustainability principles, are foundational requirements of every transaction we execute and every partner we work with.

We trade in a sector that operates close to coastlines, communities, and critical infrastructure. We expect — and require — partners across our value chain to share that awareness.

Our HSSE commitments

Four standards we require of every transaction.

01 · HEALTH

Health

We require partners across our trading chain to operate in line with international occupational health standards, with particular attention to vessel crews, terminal workers, and inspection personnel.

02 · SAFETY

Safety

We prioritise the safe handling, transport, and discharge of crude oil and petroleum products. Pre-loading, in-transit, and discharge safety procedures are non-negotiable requirements.

03 · SECURITY

Security

We expect counterparties to maintain physical, cyber, and information security standards consistent with international energy industry norms — including vessel security plans and cargo security protocols.

04 · ENVIRONMENT

Environment

We support practices that minimise environmental impact across the trading chain, including spill-prevention discipline, emissions awareness, and bunker fuel quality compliance.

Sustainability principles

How we trade today, and how we evolve.

ROS Trading's sustainability principles guide how we trade today and how we evolve the business over the long term.

01

Responsible Counterparty Selection

We trade with parties whose operating standards align with international expectations. Counterparty conduct is screened as rigorously as counterparty credit.

02

Energy Transition Awareness

We recognise that the role of crude oil and refined products is evolving, and we build optionality to participate in the energy transition over time — particularly in cleaner fuels and LPG.

03

Indigenous Economic Contribution

As a Nigerian company, we are committed to building local commercial capability, employment, and technical expertise in the global commodity trading sector.

04

Transparent Reporting

We publish appropriate sustainability and ESG disclosures as the business scales and as required by financiers and counterparties.

05

Community Awareness

We recognise the proximity of our value chain to coastal and inland communities, and we support partners who engage these communities responsibly.

Energy transition posture

A pragmatic, just, and economically realistic transition.

ROS Trading believes that hydrocarbons will continue to play a critical role in African and global energy supply for decades to come, even as the broader energy mix evolves.

We support a pragmatic, just, and economically realistic energy transition — one that recognises the developmental needs of African economies while progressively building lower-carbon trading capabilities, including in LPG, cleaner fuels, and adjacent energy products.

Frameworks & standards

The standards behind our practice.

ROS Trading's sustainability practice is aligned with internationally recognised frameworks for responsible commodity trading.

FATF

Financial Action Task Force

AML procedures and counterparty screening aligned with FATF recommendations and international financial sector standards.

IOGP

Oil & Gas Producers Guidance

HSE and operational discipline informed by International Association of Oil & Gas Producers good-practice guidance.

UN SDGs

Sustainable Development Goals

Our sustainability principles support relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — particularly affordable and clean energy, decent work, and partnerships.

ISO

ISO Management Systems

Operating disciplines aligned with ISO 9001 quality management principles and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.

Sustainability disclosure commitment: ROS Trading will publish a formal sustainability statement annually as the business scales, and as required by financing counterparties and partner banks.
